Gojira style whale noise sound effect from the Nik Nocturnal guitar tutorial, imitating a whale call with a heavy metal guitar slide for memes and edits.

This short clip captures the high pitched whale call effect made famous by Gojira, recreated here on electric guitar. Instead of a real animal recording, the sound is a sliding harmonic that rises and falls like a whale singing underwater. It lasts less than a second but is instantly recognisable to metal fans. The tone is eerie, spacious and slightly melancholic, cutting through heavy riffs with a clean, echoing cry. Placed on its own, it creates a sudden moment of calm and weirdness before the heaviness returns.

French metal band Gojira built much of their identity around ocean imagery, most famously on Flying Whales from their 2005 album From Mars to Sirius. Guitarist techniques that mimic whale song became a signature part of their sound. Metal creator Nik Nocturnal condensed that style into his How to Gojira in 30 Seconds short, isolating the whale slide as a standalone joke and tutorial moment. Fans clipped it for soundboards because the effect works both as an in-joke for Gojira listeners and as a random whale sound online.

What is the Gojira whale noise?

It is a guitar effect that imitates a whale call using a sliding harmonic with heavy reverb. Gojira use similar sounds in their ocean themed songs, and this clip recreates that signature tone in under a second.

Where does this whale noise clip come from?

This version comes from Nik Nocturnal's How to Gojira in 30 Seconds short, a quick tutorial parody breaking down the band's style. The isolated whale slide was clipped from that video and shared as a standalone sound.

How do people use the whale noise sound?

Creators drop it into metal edits, reaction videos and meme posts as a punchline or transition. It works best before a heavy riff, during an ocean reference, or as a random sad whale cry for comic effect.
