Waluigi's death cry from the Mario games, a short wailing sound effect used in memes and edits when a character fails or gets knocked out on screen.

This short clip captures Waluigi's dramatic death cry, a high-pitched, wailing yelp that rises and then collapses as he is defeated. The voice is cartoonish and over-the-top, with a strained, almost theatrical wobble that makes the moment feel funny rather than serious. In just over two seconds, it moves from surprise to exaggerated defeat, which is why editors use it as a punchline rather than a realistic sound. Hearing it instantly signals that something has gone wrong in a silly, low-stakes way, turning a failed jump, a lost match, or a clumsy mistake into a joke the audience recognises immediately.

Waluigi, the lanky rival to Luigi in Nintendo's Mario series, is known for his thin, mischievous voice and over-the-top reactions, which have made his voice lines a favourite source for meme edits. Short clips of his cries and taunts circulate on soundboards and in gaming videos, where creators reuse them far beyond their original gameplay context. This death cry works because it is instantly recognisable to Mario fans while still sounding absurd on its own, so it keeps appearing in fail compilations, reaction edits, and short-form videos years after players first heard it.

Who is Waluigi?

Waluigi is Luigi's lanky, mischievous rival in Nintendo's Mario series, known for his purple outfit, moustache, and sneaky personality. He often appears as a playable character in Mario sports and party games.

Creators drop it at the moment of failure, such as a missed jump, a lost match, or a character falling off screen. It works best on its own, with a brief pause in the music, so the punchline is clear.
