このサウンドについて

The "This is a bucket" quote from Team Fortress 2's Expiration Date short. Used in memes and edits for absurd reveals, awkward pauses, and sudden punchlines.

This clip is the deadpan line "This is a bucket," best known from the Team Fortress 2 animated short Expiration Date. The humor comes from how plainly it is delivered before the scene immediately escalates into the famous response, "Dear God." On its own, the sound works as a setup for a ridiculous reveal, an anticlimax, or a joke where the object shown is far less important than everyone pretends. It lands best when a video pauses just long enough for the audience to recognize the reference and anticipate the next beat.

This quote comes from Valve's Team Fortress 2 animated short Expiration Date, released in 2014. In the scene, Soldier presents a bucket and the exchange became one of the short's most quoted moments among TF2 fans. The line spread widely through YouTube clips, gaming compilations, and meme edits because its flat delivery makes a perfect setup for a sudden reaction. It still appears in game meme culture alongside other instantly recognizable TF2 and multiplayer reaction sounds like Enemy Spotted.
