A short voice clip of Bob McKenzie saying take off, delivered with brisk comic energy. Creators use it to dismiss a joke or cut away from a scene.

This is a brisk, under-a-second spoken exclamation in which a male voice snaps out the words take off with clipped, dismissive confidence. The delivery is quick and slightly cheeky rather than angry, rising just enough to land like a punchline before it ends abruptly. Because it is so short, it works as an instant reaction: the listener immediately understands that someone is being told to leave, drop a subject, or stop joking around. It adds comic timing without explaining itself, making a cut feel sharper and a rejection feel playful rather than harsh.

The phrase is closely associated with Bob McKenzie, the Canadian comic character created for the sketch series SCTV, where he and his brother Doug turned everyday slang into a national joke. Their signature dismissal, take off, captured a deadpan, good-natured rudeness that audiences quickly recognised and repeated. As short clips travelled through soundboards, memes, and reaction videos, the line survived because it needs no context: two words are enough to end a bit, reject an idea, or send a scene packing.

What does take off mean in this sound?

In this clip, take off is a blunt, comic way of telling someone to leave, drop the subject, or stop joking around. The humour comes from its short, deadpan delivery rather than real anger.

Who is Bob McKenzie?

Bob McKenzie is a Canadian comedy character from SCTV, one half of the Bob and Doug McKenzie duo. He and Doug became famous for their exaggerated Canadian slang, beer-drinking personas, and catchphrases such as take off.

How can creators use this sound in a video?

Place it at the moment a character is dismissed, a bad idea is rejected, or a scene needs a quick ending. Because the clip lasts under a second, it works best as a single punchline rather than a repeated effect.
