このサウンドについて

The Sonic 1 goal post sound is the short spinning effect from Sonic the Hedgehog, often used to punctuate wins, level finishes, and retro game edits.

This brief sound effect accompanies the spinning goal post seen near the end of an act in the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Its rapid, mechanical flutter immediately suggests that a level has been completed and a result is about to appear. The distinctly 16-bit tone adds a playful sense of speed and achievement without needing dialogue or music. In videos, it creates a quick retro payoff that works especially well after a successful challenge, race, speedrun, or precisely timed finish.

The effect comes from Sonic the Hedgehog, released for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive in 1991. Goal posts appear at the end of most acts, where Sonic runs past a rotating sign that eventually displays a character image. The accompanying sound became familiar through repeated play, later resurfacing in gameplay videos, speedrun clips, animations, and retro gaming edits. It remains useful because its short duration communicates completion while preserving the bright, energetic character of the original 16-bit game.
