RuPaul asks 'Who cares?' in this short, dismissive sound effect from Drag Race, used in memes and edits to brush off drama, gossip and pointless arguments.

This is a two-and-a-half-second clip of RuPaul delivering the line 'Who cares?' in a cool, unbothered tone that lands somewhere between a question and a shrug. His voice is smooth, low and deliberately casual, with a slight rise at the end that makes the dismissal feel playful rather than angry. Played over a clip, it instantly undercuts whatever came before it, turning gossip, overreactions and long-winded explanations into something suddenly unimportant. The brevity is part of the joke: it does not argue back, it simply moves on, leaving the audience laughing at how quickly the drama was deflated.

RuPaul, the drag icon and host of RuPaul's Drag Race, is known for quick, cutting one-liners, and 'Who cares?' fits that style perfectly. The clip circulated as an instant button and soundboard favourite, where users could trigger the dismissal with a single tap during streams, chats and edits. From there it spread into TikTok replies, reaction videos and meme edits as a shorthand for unbothered confidence. It endures because the line is universally understood: no context is needed to know that the speaker has already moved on.

Who says "Who cares?" in this sound?

RuPaul says the line. The clip captures his signature unbothered delivery, which is why fans recognise it instantly even without any video, and why it works so well as a standalone reaction sound.

Where is the RuPaul "Who cares?" sound from?

It is a short RuPaul reaction clip that became popular online as an instant button and soundboard sound. It is closely associated with his Drag Race persona, rather than one specific scene that most listeners would recognise.

How do creators use this sound in edits?

Creators drop it right after gossip, drama or an overlong explanation to dismiss it in under three seconds. It works best with a deadpan cut or eye-roll, followed by a quick change of subject or scene.
