Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, the iconic bass riff chanted at rugby matches and sports stadiums to build tension and hype up the crowd.

This clip is the opening riff from Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, a low, driving bassline that repeats with steady, stomping energy. Although played on guitar, it sounds like a deep bass pulse that builds instant tension and recognition. In a rugby context it works like a crowd chant, simple enough for thousands of fans to hum together. Dropped into a video, it makes a tackle, entrance or slow build feel bigger and more defiant, turning an ordinary moment into something that feels like a stadium showdown.

Seven Nation Army was released by The White Stripes in 2003 as the opening track on their album Elephant. Its simple seven-note riff was adopted by football supporters in Europe, who chanted it without words, and it spread from there to other sports including rugby. Because the melody is easy to remember and powerful in unison, stadiums, broadcasts and fan videos kept using it long after its chart run, turning a rock song into a universal sporting chant.
