A 14-second clip of The Clash's London Calling, the classic 1979 punk rock anthem, used as a hype intro for rugby edits, sports highlights, and team montages.

This is a punchy excerpt from London Calling by The Clash, opening with its driving bass line, urgent guitar riff and Joe Strummer's distinctive, almost shouted vocals. Even in just fourteen seconds it carries the full tension and swagger of the original punk anthem, instantly recognisable from its opening bars. Played over a rugby clip, it makes a tackle, a try or a team run-out feel bigger, louder and more dramatic, like a stadium anthem kicking in at exactly the right moment. It works because the song already sounds like a call to action, so viewers expect something bold to follow.

London Calling was released by The Clash in 1979 as the title track of their third album, and it quickly became one of the band's most recognisable songs. Its urgent bass line and apocalyptic lyrics captured late-1970s London, and the track has since become a staple of punk compilations, films and sports broadcasts. On soundboards it is often trimmed to its opening seconds and reused as a high-energy intro, which is why this version is labelled for rugby, where its driving rhythm suits run-outs, montages and highlight reels alongside crowd cheering.
