A short Italian football meme clip of a voice demanding RAI interview the linesman, used by fans to react to controversial refereeing decisions in match edits.

This is a short Italian spoken clip built around the phrase 'Rai, intervistate il guardalinee,' a demand for the broadcaster to interview the assistant referee. The voice sounds urgent, frustrated and half-joking, as if spoken straight after a disputed offside or foul, with the emphasis landing hard on the linesman rather than the players. That mix of anger and absurdity is what makes it work: it turns a routine post-match interview request into a punchline. Listeners instantly recognise the football-fan logic behind it, that the official on the touchline, not the team, decided the game.

The phrase is Italian for 'RAI, interview the linesman,' referring to Italy's public broadcaster and the assistant referee in a football match. It circulates online as a short spoken meme among Italian football supporters, who reuse it whenever a linesman's decision becomes the main talking point after a game. Its appeal comes from that shared frustration with officiating, turned into a direct and slightly absurd request for an interview that would never normally happen. Because the line is short, clear and easy to recognise, it works as a reaction sound in edits, streams and social posts about controversial calls.

What does "Rai intervistate il guardalinee" mean?

It is Italian for 'RAI, interview the linesman.' RAI is Italy's public broadcaster, and the guardalinee is the assistant referee who watches the touchline for offside and other decisions during a football match.

Why is this sound used as a meme?

Football fans use it after a linesman makes a controversial call, because it turns their frustration into a joke. Demanding an interview with the official suggests the decision, rather than the play, decided the match.

How can I use this sound in a video?

Use it as a reaction after showing a disputed offside, foul or goal. Place it over a still image or clip of the linesman, keep the voice clear, and let the joke land before cutting to the next moment.
