A drawn-out voice clip saying poor que, used as a reaction sound for mock sympathy, bad luck, and exaggerated disappointment in memes and short videos.

The clip is a single voice stretched over about two seconds, with the word poor held long and wavering before it lands on a short, questioning que. It sounds theatrical rather than sad, like someone putting on an exaggerated pity voice for comic effect, and that over-the-top delivery is what makes it land. Played over a fail, a bad decision, or an unlucky moment, it turns sympathy into a joke, letting viewers laugh at the situation instead of feeling sorry for it. The long opening builds a beat of anticipation, then the clipped ending punctures it, making it a quick punchline in short edits.

As a short reaction clip, poor que has found its place alongside other exaggerated sympathy sounds, where one vocal phrase can comment on a scene without dialogue. Creators use it in meme edits and short videos when a character or friend meets an avoidable mishap, turning bad luck into a punchline rather than a serious beat. Because the phrase is short, distinctive, and recognisable as mock pity, it is easy to drop into a timeline and reuse across different jokes, which keeps it circulating long after any single trend has faded.

What does the poor que sound mean?

It is a drawn-out, theatrical way of saying poor que, used to express mock sympathy rather than genuine sadness. Creators play it when someone has bad luck, so the audience reads the moment as funny instead of serious.

How should I use the poor que sound in a video?

Place it immediately after a fail, bad decision, or unlucky moment, and let the full stretched delivery play without cutting it short. It works best over a freeze frame or reaction shot, where the exaggerated pity becomes the punchline.

Why is the poor que sound popular in memes?

Because it is short, instantly recognisable, and turns sympathy into comedy in just two seconds. The long, wavering poor builds anticipation, while the short que delivers a quick punchline that fits short-form edits.
