The classic Pac-Man death sound effect from the arcade game, where he folds up after touching a ghost. Often used for funny gaming fails and retro edits.

This is Pac-Man's death animation sound from the original arcade game, a descending electronic wail that spirals down as the character collapses inward and vanishes. It starts high and playful, then drops in pitch with a wobbling, melting quality that instantly signals a total wipeout. The short sting lasts just under five seconds and ends with a final pop. Viewers recognize it without any visual at all, and it turns even a small mistake into a dramatic, funny game over moment because the sound itself feels like losing all progress at once.

The sound comes from Pac-Man, the Namco arcade game released in 1980, where touching a ghost triggers this death sequence before a life is lost. Its descending electronic tone became one of the most recognizable game over cues of the arcade era and survived through ports, cartoons, and remixes. Online, creators pair it with other retro cues like the Super Mario Pipe and Victory Fanfare to instantly mark a fail or a joke ending, keeping an 8-bit sound alive decades after its debut.
