このサウンドについて

The “Good morning, my neighbors” exchange from Coming to America, used in memes to greet a group cheerfully before an unexpectedly rude response.

This sound captures Prince Akeem enthusiastically calling out, “Good morning, my neighbors,” after moving to Queens in Coming to America. His warm greeting receives a shouted insult from across the street, which he happily returns without understanding the hostility. The contrast between Akeem’s sincere optimism and the neighbor’s blunt response gives the clip its comic impact. Its escalating dialogue works especially well as a funny greeting, an awkward neighborhood interaction, or a reaction to someone whose friendliness is met with immediate aggression.

The dialogue comes from the 1988 comedy Coming to America, starring Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem. After arriving in Queens, New York, Akeem loudly greets the neighborhood and receives a profane answer, which he cheerfully repeats. The scene became one of the film’s recognizable comic exchanges because it quickly establishes his innocence and enthusiasm in an unfamiliar setting. Short versions later circulated as reaction audio and meme clips, remaining useful for ironic greetings, neighborhood jokes, and videos built around sudden changes in tone.
