このサウンドについて

The iconic "From downtown" basketball call from NBA Jam celebrates a long-range shot, adding arcade-style hype to sports edits, gaming clips, and memes.

This brief voice clip delivers the words “From downtown” with the force and excitement of an arcade basketball announcer. The sharp, energetic delivery evokes a player launching a difficult shot from far beyond the basket and immediately raises the stakes of whatever appears on screen. Because the line is compact and instantly understandable, it works as both a genuine sports celebration and an exaggerated reaction to unlikely success. Its punchy cadence also gives edits a nostalgic video game feel without interrupting the action for more than a moment.

“From downtown” is a familiar basketball expression for a shot taken far from the basket. The call became especially recognizable through NBA Jam, Midway’s 1993 arcade basketball game, whose energetic commentary was performed by Tim Kitzrow. Its exaggerated delivery matched the game’s fast pace, oversized dunks, and dramatic long-range shots. Short versions of the call later spread through gaming videos, sports compilations, reaction edits, and memes because the phrase quickly communicates distance, risk, and a spectacular result.
