The iconic NBA on NBC theme music, best known as Roundball Rock, used to introduce basketball highlights, hype edits and sports videos online.

This short clip captures the bright, instantly recognisable opening of the NBA on NBC broadcast theme, driven by a bold brass melody, punchy drums and a rising, triumphant rhythm that feels like a big game is about to begin. Even in just a few seconds, it carries the energy of a packed arena and a nationally televised matchup, triggering nostalgia for viewers who grew up watching basketball on Sunday afternoons. Its upbeat, confident sound makes any highlight, reaction or sports edit feel larger, more dramatic and more official, as if the moment deserves its own television intro.

Roundball Rock, composed by John Tesh, became the signature music of NBC's NBA coverage when it debuted in 1990, soundtracking the league's biggest regular-season games and playoff moments throughout the decade. After NBC's original run ended, the melody lived on through highlight reels, sports nostalgia and online memes, where a few notes are enough to signal a major basketball moment. Its return alongside NBC's renewed NBA coverage has reinforced that association, and creators often pair it with crowd cheering to recreate the feeling of a live televised game.
