Gagging sound effect of someone choking and retching repeatedly, often used in prank videos, disgusting food reactions and gross-out comedy edits.

This clip is a prolonged gagging and retching sound, with repeated choking heaves that rise and fall as if someone is reacting to something revolting. It is raw, wet and deliberately unpleasant, lasting long enough to feel exaggerated rather than like a quick cough. Listeners instantly read it as disgust, nausea or being physically put off by a smell, taste or sight. That clear reaction makes it useful as a punchline, because the audience understands the feeling before anyone needs to explain what is supposedly so gross.

Gagging sounds have become a staple gross-out effect on soundboards and in short-form edits, where a short burst of retching instantly signals disgust without any context. This longer version is shared as a standalone clip that editors can drop into reaction videos, pranks and meme compilations. Its popularity comes from how universal the reaction is and how easily it pairs with other crude comedy effects. Because the recording source is not documented, it is mainly known through its repeated online use rather than a specific film or show.

What is the gagging gagging sound?

It is a ten second sound effect of repeated gagging, choking and retching noises. The clip sounds like someone reacting with strong disgust or nausea, with several heaves in a row rather than a single quick gag or cough.

Where does the gagging sound come from?

The original recording source is not documented, so it is not confidently tied to a specific movie, show or character. It circulates online as a standalone gross-out effect that creators reuse for disgust and nausea reactions.

How do creators use the gagging sound effect?

Creators place it over disgusting food, bad smells, messy pranks or revolting reveals to make the reaction instantly clear. It works best as a short punchline after the reveal, trimmed so the gagging does not cover important dialogue.
