This is the unmistakable laugh of Balthazar Boma, the flamboyant football club president from the Flemish sitcom F.C. De Kampioenen. The 2.5 second clip captures his hearty, self satisfied chuckle, delivered with a deep, rolling tone that sounds both smug and jovial. It is instantly recognisable to Belgian and Dutch audiences who grew up with the character. Played on its own, the laugh works as a punchline, implying someone is very pleased with themselves, has just pulled off a clever trick, or is enjoying a situation far more than anyone else in the room.

Balthazar Boma, played by Marijn Devalck, was the wealthy sausage maker and president of the struggling football team in F.C. De Kampioenen, which ran on Flemish television from 1990 to 2011 and remains a cultural staple in Belgium. His pompous personality and distinctive laugh became a shorthand for smug success among Dutch speaking viewers. Clips of the character resurfaced in meme videos and on soundboards in the 2010s, where his chuckle is now reused far beyond the show as a nostalgic reaction sound.
