It lands fast, with a punchy rock sting that instantly makes a moment feel dumber, cooler or more self-aware in a fun way. Creators use it when someone nails a tiny win, strikes a ridiculous pose or leans fully into cheesy confidence. Even at just over a second long, it gives a scene a playful 80s-and-90s comedy energy that viewers recognize right away.

This sound is associated with the Bill & Ted movies, where the title characters became closely linked with their air guitar gesture and laid-back "excellent" attitude. Short clips of the riff spread through meme edits, soundboards and reaction videos because they communicate instant ironic triumph in barely a second. It remains popular because the joke is easy to read even without dialogue: one quick guitar sting turns an ordinary pose, entrance or small success into a knowingly overdramatic comedy beat.
