Über diesen Sound

A clip from Ylvis's 2013 novelty song The Fox, used in memes, throwback edits and joke videos about animals, confusion or random internet humor.

This sound is a clip from Ylvis's viral song The Fox, best known for the repeated question "What does the fox say?" and its absurd list of made-up animal noises. It has a bright dance-pop beat, exaggerated vocals and a deliberately silly tone that turns any scene into a joke. People use it when they want a sudden burst of randomness, a nostalgic early-2010s meme reference or a playful way to react to animals, awkward silence and over-the-top confusion.

The Fox was released by Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis in 2013 and quickly became a huge online hit through its music video and shareable chorus. The repeated question and nonsense animal sounds made it easy to quote, remix and reuse in short comedy edits. It remains popular because it instantly signals early-2010s internet humor while still working as a punchline for animal clips, chaotic reveals and deliberately silly reaction posts.
