Über diesen Sound

The classic Resident Evil line about being a Jill Sandwich, used in memes, gaming edits and clips whenever someone barely escapes a trap.

This short clip features the famous Resident Evil line about someone almost becoming a Jill Sandwich. It is a brief spoken quote with stiff, dramatic delivery that instantly signals classic survival horror and old-school game dialogue. The charm comes from how serious the scene sounds compared with how strange the phrase is, which makes it funny even out of context. In edits, the sound works as a punchline for near misses, close calls, failed plans, or any moment where a character escapes danger by a split second.

The Jill Sandwich quote comes from the original Resident Evil, where Barry Burton says it to Jill Valentine after a dangerous trap sequence. The line became one of the best-known pieces of early game voice acting because of its awkward wording and memorable delivery. It spread far beyond the game through compilations, remixes, and retro gaming memes, and it still shows up in edits whenever a scene needs a joking close-call payoff. Fans of classic horror game quotes also often pair it with the FNAF Jumpscare Scream in mashups.
