Über diesen Sound

Kimi Räikkönen’s blunt “I was having a shit” reply from a 2006 Formula One grid interview, used for awkward explanations and uncensored reaction edits.

This short voice clip captures Formula One driver Kimi Räikkönen giving an unexpectedly blunt explanation for his absence from a pre-race presentation. His calm, matter-of-fact delivery contrasts sharply with the profanity, turning a routine grid interview into a memorable comic moment. The brief pause and direct answer make the audio especially effective as a reaction to questions about where someone has been, why they missed an event, or what caused a delay. Its appeal comes from Räikkönen sounding completely unfazed while giving an answer broadcasters and viewers did not expect.

The quote comes from a live grid interview at the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix. When commentator Martin Brundle asked Kimi Räikkönen why he had missed a presentation involving Michael Schumacher, the Finnish driver answered with the now-famous bathroom explanation. The unscripted exchange circulated widely through Formula One compilations, reposted videos, and reaction edits. It remains popular because it combines live television, an unusually candid answer, and Räikkönen’s famously restrained delivery, making the moment recognizable well beyond dedicated motorsport audiences.
