Über diesen Sound

The Gears of War Boomer sound features the Locust enemy's deep “Boom” call, used in gaming edits for explosions, heavy hits, and sudden reveals.

This short voice clip captures the unmistakable Boomer call from Gears of War. A Locust Boomer delivers a low, forceful “Boom” with a rough, intimidating tone associated with the enemy’s explosive attacks. The abrupt delivery makes the sound feel heavy even before an impact appears on screen. In videos, it creates anticipation for a blast, emphasizes an oversized weapon, or turns an ordinary collision into a dramatic gaming moment. Its brief length also works well for rapid cuts, reaction edits, and punch lines built around something unexpectedly powerful.

The Boomer is a large Locust enemy introduced in the original Gears of War, released in 2006. Boomers wield the Boomshot grenade launcher and are recognized by their deep vocal warning around explosive attacks. The brief call became familiar to players through repeated combat encounters, then spread into gameplay compilations, fan edits, and gaming reaction videos. It remains useful because longtime players recognize it immediately, while its blunt delivery also communicates an incoming blast to viewers who do not know the character.
