Band cover of A Cruel Angel's Thesis, the iconic opening theme from Neon Genesis Evangelion, used in anime edits, meme intros and nostalgic fan videos.

This is a band cover excerpt of A Cruel Angel's Thesis, the energetic opening theme from Neon Genesis Evangelion, performed here with live instruments instead of the original studio arrangement. Bright vocals, driving drums, electric guitars and bold brass-style lines keep the melody instantly recognisable and urgent. The short clip captures the soaring chorus energy that makes the song feel heroic and nostalgic at once. For anime fans it triggers immediate recognition, while for other viewers it lands as an intense, uplifting intro sting that raises excitement before a reveal, edit or punchline.

A Cruel Angel's Thesis was originally performed by Yoko Takahashi as the opening theme for Neon Genesis Evangelion, the influential mecha anime series that premiered in Japan in 1995. Written for the show, the song became one of the most recognised anime openings worldwide and is regularly covered by bands and fans online. This band cover version circulates as a short clip on soundboards and in edits, helped by searches for the meme version. Its association with dramatic entrances keeps it popular decades after the series first aired.
